Madhavi Bandara is an educationalist, a human skills development trainer, and the Senior Executive Director of the Institute of Professional Studies and Skill Development in Sri Lanka. She received her primary education at Sumana Balika Vidyalaya. She continued her tertiary education at the University of Colombo and earned her master’s degree from the University of Colombo. She began her career as a lecturer at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in behavioural science, specializing in psychology and counselling, at the International University for Complementary Medicine. She later completed her second PhD in social science at American National Business University. She is also the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Association of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
